After Deep Throat tips Mulder off about a UFO crash near Townsend, Wisconsin, Mulder ventures out on his own to investigate and eventually gets apprehended by the military. While in lockup, he meets a fellow detainee: a UFO enthusiast and conspiracy theorist named Max Fenig. When Scully joins Mulder on the case, they work together to find answers regarding the mysterious attacks and deaths of people in the area while the FBI threatens to close the X-Files and get rid of Mulder for good. This episode was written by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. Directed by Larry Shaw.
