After serial killer, Robert Patrick Modell, escapes from a Virginia prison, Skinner, Mulder, and Scully work together to try to capture him before he picks up where he left off. During their investigation, Mulder begins to suspect Modell isn’t to blame for the murder of a prosecutor named Nathan Bowman and concludes it was Bowman’s wife, Linda, who committed the crime. Mulder’s thoughts on the matter are rejected by Skinner and Scully, which leads him to go off on his own to try to prove his theory to them. This episode was written by Tim Minear and Vince Gilligan. Directed by Daniel Sackheim.
